I'd be very interested to hear from other jazz trumpeters. I find this subject so engaging, the trumpet for me is one of the most physically demanding of any instrument I have ever tried to master. I am playing in a jazz quartet and a big band, the former demands on the spot soloing the latter precise interpretation of written parts, both theses things keep me practicing for at least 2 hours a day and then I have to maintain and work on technique (keeping my chops up).
Having played in some brass bands in England I have had the fortune of meeting some of Britains if not the worlds finest cornetists, who each have their own way of maintaining high standards of musicianship. They were always eager to discuss problems and pass on their knowledge to other players. As I now live in the Algarve portugal I miss this camaraderie so I'm hoping to find it here.
